Cinque Terre is a string of centuries-old seaside villages on the rugged Italian Riviera coastline. During a trip to Europe we visited Italy and one such rugged little village.
I took a series of photos during our exploration. This year, I thought why not paint another landscape from Europe!
Europe is beautiful and it has inspiring landscape and architecture, definitely. This inspiration is bright, colorful and old enough that you believe it is a part of the landscape itself. At least it can feel that way.
One thing I did debate was whether I should incorporate more life into the painting. The image I captured had so many people. It was tourist season after all. But did I really want to paint mass tourism? Not really. So, here and there, you will see people but my focus was the village itself.
I hope you like it. Let me know what you think!
